Position Overview:

We are in search of a skilled, proactive, and detail-oriented Sustainability Compliance Specialist to enhance our Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Team. As an integral part of this team, you will be instrumental in facilitating environmental permits, ensuring compliance, and driving initiatives for reducing environmental impact. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong auditing capabilities, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to sustainable practices. This role reports directly to the Environmental Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and refine environmental management systems (standards, procedures, processes) within the designated area.
  • Collaborate with facilities to integrate sustainability initiatives and objectives into facility programs and processes, including changes in projects and compliance requirements.
  • Engage with project teams to incorporate sustainability, climate change considerations, environmental justice, and circular economy principles.
  • Oversee permit and regulatory compliance, including the preparation of data and information for permit applications related to new and modified equipment.
  • Design and deliver environmental training programs, including ongoing mentorship.
  • Assist facility personnel in preparing compliance reports such as Title V, emissions/waste reports, and facility plans.
  • Provide necessary data for regulatory agency requirements and respond to inquiries related to environmental permits and investigations.
  • Work alongside environmental experts to assess the potential impact of proposed regulations and advocate for flexible, environmentally protective measures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned related to the position.
Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Environmental Specialist in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Environmental Science, or a related scientific discipline.
  • A combination of education and industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Willingness to travel, if necessary, with reasonable notice (domestic and/or international).
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CHMM or equivalent.
Working Conditions:
  • Capability to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to dust and chemicals.
  • Requirement to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary for job functions.
  • Capacity to lift up to 30 pounds.
