Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by maintaining the cleanliness and sterility of surgical instruments and equipment. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain established inventory levels by checking supplies and equipment, and ordering necessary replacements.
  • Perform routine testing of sterilizers and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist in the preparation and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a smooth and efficient operating room experience.
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Instrument technician experience, or equivalent experience in a hospital materials management department.
  • Certified Sterile Processing Certificate required.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of standard precautions, aseptic technique, and principles of sterilization and instrument handling.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
