Position: Records Management Advisor

Summary:

In this pivotal role, you will act as the Command's Records Management Advisor within the Command, Control, Communications and Cyber Directorate (J6) at the Headquarters of the United States Indo-Pacific Command.


Key Responsibilities:

You will provide expert guidance to senior leadership, including the Commander, Deputy Commander, Executive Director, Chief of Staff, Chief Knowledge Officer, Chief Information Officer, and Knowledge Management Officer.

Your role will involve spearheading initiatives to address challenges related to information sharing across the United States Indo-Pacific Command, its Sub-Commands, and Joint Task Forces.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing best practices in Information Management (IM), Records Management (RM), Privacy Act (PA), and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) management to mitigate risks and safeguard sensitive information.

Collaboration will be key as you coordinate RM, PA, and PII efforts across the Command and its supporting entities to ensure comprehensive alignment.

As the technical authority on both electronic and non-electronic records management, you will integrate records management capabilities into the enterprise architecture, ensuring that all information systems effectively support the management of records and information assets.

Your duties will also include the careful handling of personal information and records, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Working closely with Legal Counsel, you will maintain personnel privacy and manage records and information assets to uphold government accountability and protect public interests.

You will contribute to the development of knowledge and information management plans (KIMPs) that outline the strategic use of information and knowledge assets.

Additionally, you will assist in aligning the overall IM and Knowledge Management (KM) strategy with operational needs and will be responsible for developing and executing training programs related to IM, PA, PII, and RM.


Qualifications:

Candidates must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in federal service or comparable experience in the private or public sector, showcasing expertise in Information Management, Privacy Act, PII, and Records Management.


Specialized experience should include:
  • Mastery in planning, organizing, and leading teams focused on strategic initiatives.
  • Experience in developing and administering policies and procedures related to document management.
  • Providing expert analysis and recommendations in complex operational environments.
  • Negotiating with high-level officials on significant proposals and policy changes.
  • In-depth knowledge of organizational structures and operations across various Commands.
  • Extensive understanding of technology environments and collaborative solutions impacting data protection.

Additional Information:

This position is part of the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. The selection process may include a review of qualifications and a potential interview.

It is important to note that this position may require working uncommon hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays to fulfill mission requirements.
