PBX Operator Job Summary

The Oroville Hospital is seeking a skilled PBX Operator to join our team. As a key member of our switchboard team, you will be responsible for answering incoming calls, routing them to the appropriate department, and providing exceptional customer service to our patients and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Answer and direct incoming calls to the correct department or individual
  • Place outgoing calls for employees who require operator assistance
  • Record calls and maintain accurate records
  • Inform the telephone company of equipment malfunctions
  • Answer code phones and pages appropriate information
  • Manage petty cash transactions and balance the cash drawer
  • Provide directions to patients and visitors
  • Assist with personnel training and other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently without direct supervision
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate keys on the switchboard
  • Pleasant telephone voice and manner
