About the Position:
The Colville Tribes is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated individual to serve as a member of the Board of Directors for the Paschal Sherman Indian School. As a Board member, you will play a critical role in shaping the educational vision and direction of the school, ensuring that students have ample opportunity to achieve their individual and collective learning goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent the Tribal Community: Serve as a liaison between the school and the Tribal community, understanding the concerns and aspirations of all segments of the community and finding ways to accommodate them.
- Adopt and Implement Policy: Develop and implement policies that guide the school towards compliance with Tribal law, federal, tribal, and state requirements, and advance uniquely Indian goals, culture, history, and language.
- Monitor Operations: Review school operations to ensure compliance with Board policy and make recommendations for improvement.
- Resolve Disputes: Resolve complaints or grievances brought by students, staff, or patrons in a fair and timely manner.
- Hire, Supervise, and Evaluate: Oversee the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of the superintendent and other school staff.
- Set Vision, Mission, and Goals: Establish and oversee the development of the school's vision, mission, and strategic goals.
- Establish and Oversee Budget: Develop and manage the school's budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support student learning.
- Serve as Community Representative: Represent the school and the Colville Tribes in the community, fostering positive relationships and promoting the school's mission and goals.
- Monitor Progress: Track the school's progress towards its goals and make recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 25 years of age.
- Must be an enrolled member of the Colville Confederated Tribes.
- Must not be employed by Paschal Sherman Indian School.
- Must not be an immediate family member or reside in the same home as a PSIS employee.
- Must pass a fingerprint-based background check.
