The Financial Controller is a pivotal role within our organization, responsible for the oversight and management of all financial operations. This position ensures the precision and reliability of financial reporting, playing a crucial part in the company’s fiscal health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Asset Management: Oversee the allocation of business insurance costs across various departments, ensuring compliance with financial and operational goals through regular audits.
- Month-End Close: Lead the month-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, including the review and approval of journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Year-End Review: Direct the year-end review engagement with external auditors, preparing necessary documentation and coordinating audit requests to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Tax Reporting: Manage federal, state, and business tax reporting, ensuring timely filing of tax returns and compliance with applicable laws.
- Treasury Functions: Oversee cash flow management and short to intermediate-term cash forecasting, developing strategies to optimize liquidity and mitigate financial risks.
- Financial Reporting: Provide support for financial reporting and ensure accuracy in all financial statements.
Supervisory Role:
The Financial Controller will supervise a team of four, including three staff accountants and a payroll accountant, while indirectly overseeing payroll, accounts payable, and inventory management functions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or MBA preferred.
- A minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or managerial roles.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- A high level of integrity, attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy.
Licenses and Certifications:
Candidates must be legally employable by a U.S. business. CPA or MBA credentials are preferred.
