Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform rough carpentry tasks
  • Prepare and apply paint to various surfaces
  • Maintain electrical systems
  • Carry out routine maintenance on machinery and building systems
  • Assist senior maintenance personnel
  • Document maintenance activities
  • Adhere to safety protocols
  • Maintain tools and work environment
  • Be available for on-call duties as needed
  • Execute other assigned responsibilities

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Mechanical proficiency
  • Capability to lift and transport items weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Proficient with a full range of maintenance tools
  • Ability to read and write effectively
  • Interact respectfully and courteously with others
  • Follow both verbal and written instructions

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in a specific trade
  • Significant related experience or training may substitute for formal education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five years of experience in grounds maintenance

Note: This position is part of a Bargaining Unit. Newly hired employees in Bargaining Unit roles will be considered probationary until they complete 90 calendar days of employment. These employees will become members of the Bargaining Unit if their employment continues beyond four months. The university will notify the employees' union. Bargaining Unit employees will become eligible for benefits upon completing their probationary period.
