Job Title: Respiratory Therapist - NICU

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the University of New Mexico Hospital.

Job Summary:

The Respiratory Therapist will provide high-quality patient care to critically ill newborns and infants, utilizing advanced respiratory care techniques and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to patient safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide respiratory care to critically ill newborns and infants, including ventilation, oxygen therapy, and airway management.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' respiratory status and develop plans to improve lung function and overall patient outcomes.
  • Operate and maintain complex respiratory equipment, including ventilators and oxygen concentrators.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
Requirements:
  • Current RRT certification and NM license.
  • 2 years of experience in NICU.
  • Ability to work weekends as required by the unit.
  • Competency in NICU-related skills, including endotracheal tube/suctioning and tracheostomy suctioning.
  • Trauma Level I experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Cerner charting system.
  • Ability to float to Adult units as needed.
What We Offer:
  • 36 or 48 hours guaranteed per week, with the understanding that the facility may call off 3 times throughout a 13-week assignment.
