Organizational Role and Responsibilities:

This role entails providing instruction in the Mathematics program at the collegiate level.

This includes creating a relevant and forward-thinking curriculum, designing and executing effective teaching strategies and environments, delivering high-quality instruction, evaluating student learning, advising students, and engaging in college service activities at various levels.

This position reports to the Associate Dean - School of Engineering, Science, and Mathematics.

Key Responsibilities:

The following tasks are typically expected of this role. These are not to be construed as exhaustive or exclusive. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Facilitate student learning in the Mathematics program, covering courses such as College Mathematics, Elementary Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Math Analysis, Finite Mathematics, Calculus, Statistics, Technical Mathematics, Machine Tool Mathematics, and Vocational Mathematics.
  • Develop and implement suitable instructional methods and alternative delivery formats, including hybrid, in-person, and online course options.
  • Participate in professional development meetings, training sessions, or other initiatives as requested by the Department.
  • Assist and guide students facing challenges with assignments, examinations, grades, course material, career inquiries, and other academic issues.
  • Adhere to college policies regarding student assessment, record-keeping, timely grading, evaluating student performance, and maintaining office hours for student support and counseling.
  • Maintain instructional competencies in alignment with the Faculty Quality Assurance System.
  • Exhibit a commitment to the college's mission, vision, and values.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with contemporary educational methodologies and strategies, including learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation, and collaborative techniques aimed at addressing disparities in student access and achievement across race, gender, and disability.
  • Proficiency in utilizing educational technology and alternative instructional methods.
  • Ability to integrate multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with diverse populations, including those from various socioeconomic and racial backgrounds, as well as individuals with disabilities.
Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics or a related field with at least 18 graduate credits in Mathematics from an accredited institution.


Foreign Transcript Evaluation:

If utilizing a foreign transcript for qualification, applicants must provide a course-by-course evaluation report to confirm foreign transcript credit equivalency.

A simple translation of the transcript will not suffice for equivalency determination.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

Madison College employs pool postings for all part-time instructor roles. This posting serves as a pool to gather applications for potential part-time teaching positions.

Part-time instructors are hired on a per-course basis each semester, and teaching in one semester does not guarantee future assignments.

Teaching hours for part-time instructors may vary and can include daytime, evening, and weekend classes.

Interested candidates should complete the required online application and attach a resume, cover letter, and transcripts (unofficial copies). Please note that all transcripts will be verified for accreditation before hiring. This pool will close approximately 12 months from the posting date. If not contacted by that time and still interested in employment with Madison College, applicants will be asked to reapply to a new pool.
