Position Overview

OBJECTIVE

The Emergency Services Support Technician plays a vital role in assisting healthcare professionals within the Emergency Department by providing essential technical support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct phlebotomy procedures.
  • Administer 12 lead EKG tests.
  • Facilitate patient transport to various departments.
  • Monitor patients' cardiac and vital signs.
  • Execute Point of Care Testing.
  • Collect laboratory specimens and meticulously document all care and procedures performed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas.
  • Manage inventory and order supplies for the department.
  • Perform clerical tasks as needed.
  • Exhibit exemplary customer service skills.
  • Actively engage in Quality Improvement initiatives and promote continuous enhancement within the department.
  • Provide assistance to colleagues as required.
  • Uphold the Medical Center's Mission, Vision, and Philosophy.
  • Ensure consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must hold a current certification as a nursing assistant or emergency medical technician in the state of Missouri.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of direct patient care experience is essential.
  • Candidate should possess knowledge of growth and development stages and be able to assess the physical and psychological needs of patients across all age groups.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to adhere to established hospital policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, typically 8 to 10 hours daily.
  • Proficient in using standard office equipment, including telephones and computer keyboards.
  • Capable of working under pressure while maintaining near 100% accuracy and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Requires manual dexterity, near vision, and effective communication skills.
  • Regularly stands, walks, and utilizes hand-eye coordination.
  • Occasionally required to lift and carry items weighing up to 35 lbs.
  • May involve walking on uneven surfaces.
