Position Overview

OBJECTIVE

The Emergency Services Support Technician plays a vital role in assisting healthcare professionals within the Emergency Department, ensuring efficient operations and quality patient care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct phlebotomy procedures.
  • Administer 12 lead EKGs.
  • Facilitate patient transport to various departments.
  • Monitor patients' cardiac and vital signs.
  • Execute Point of Care Testing.
  • Collect lab specimens and meticulously document all care and procedures performed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas.
  • Manage inventory and order necessary supplies for the department.
  • Perform clerical tasks as needed.
  • Exhibit exemplary customer service skills.
  • Engage in Quality Improvement initiatives and promote a culture of continuous enhancement within the department.
  • Assist colleagues as required.
  • Uphold the Medical Center's Mission, Vision, and Philosophy in all interactions.
  • Ensure consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Carry out additional essential duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Current certification as a nursing assistant or emergency medical technician in the state of Missouri.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of direct patient care experience is necessary.
  • Knowledge of growth and development stages and the ability to assess the physical and psychological needs of patients across all age groups.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to adhere to established policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, typically 8 to 10 hours daily.
  • Proficient in using standard office equipment, including telephones and computer keyboards.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Utilization of manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing is essential.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and engage in eye/hand coordination tasks.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 35 lbs.
  • May involve walking on uneven surfaces.
