Educational and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required. Technical or vocational training relevant to the job responsibilities is advantageous. A minimum of ten years of experience in a specific area, field, or craft, performing at a journeyperson level, along with at least one year of supervisory experience is necessary. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.

Position Overview:

This role involves providing effective supervision, coordination, and leadership to staff in designated areas while actively engaging in specific crafts or skills. Responsibilities include assigning tasks, scheduling, supervising, and assisting team members in their respective duties.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee, guide, and support team members in a designated area or unit.
  2. Plan, organize, and manage assigned tasks effectively.
  3. Direct, delegate, and monitor the work of assigned personnel.
  4. Schedule work assignments and manage employee relations.
  5. Conduct interviews, evaluations, and make recommendations regarding applicants and current employees.
  6. Handle disciplinary actions as necessary.
  7. Provide training and share job knowledge based on past experiences.
  8. Assist with departmental duties such as budget management, reporting, and policy adherence.
  9. Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
Other Specifications:

This is a hands-on supervisory role requiring active participation in task completion as needed. A solid understanding and experience in various crafts, including plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems, is essential. Proficiency across all phases of work is expected. The working environment may involve exposure to disagreeable elements or hazardous materials, necessitating careful judgment in applying policies and procedures to resolve work-related issues.

Uniforms:

Uniforms and identification badges will be provided according to departmental policies.

Driving Requirement:

This position requires the operation of a university vehicle; therefore, a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record are mandatory.

On-Call Duties:

The role includes on-call responsibilities on a rotational basis, requiring responsiveness to after-hours emergencies and potential on-site attendance when necessary.
