Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist to join our team at the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA) in the Cornea Genetics Laboratory. The successful candidate will have a strong background in genetics, molecular biology, and/or biochemistry, and will be responsible for conducting research in the field of corneal dystrophies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in the field of corneal dystrophies, including identifying the genetic basis of the corneal dystrophies and developing therapeutic approaches to treat the corneal dystrophies.
  • Develop and implement new research techniques and methods to improve the understanding of corneal dystrophies.
  • Collaborate with other researchers and scientists to advance the field of corneal dystrophies research.
  • Present research findings at conferences and publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of postdoctoral research experience in a related field.
  • Strong background in genetics, molecular biology, and/or biochemistry.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AAV gene therapy for ocular diseases.
  • Knowledge of mouse models of ocular diseases and experience in generating transgenic mouse models.
  • Experience with biodistribution assays and digital PCR.
  • Familiarity with in vivo imaging of mouse ocular structures.
