Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Electrical Technician – Utility Power Plants is accountable for specific facets of the upkeep and functionality of large-scale photovoltaic power facilities. Responsibilities encompass monitoring plant operations via SCADA systems, commissioning, testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying both AC and DC solar photovoltaic systems, which include inverters, solar module arrays, transformers, switchgear, and metering apparatus.

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of 12,000 hours (6 years) of hands-on electrical experience, with at least 4,000 hours (2 years) as a certified journeyman electrician.
  • Proficiency in managing and servicing power plant electrical systems, SCADA and control systems operation, diagnosing advanced electrical components, and employing protocols for equipment preventive and corrective maintenance.

Educational Background/Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Master Electrician License is required in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Equivalent training in military, utility, or energy sectors is advantageous.

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • Proven knowledge of electrical safety and arc flash regulations.
  • Thorough understanding of and capability to adhere to operational, switching, maintenance, safety, and environmental protocols.
  • Strong safety background with experience in Lockout Tag Out and Job Hazard Analysis.
  • Familiarity with industrial or energy facility operations and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of local and national electrical standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Expertise in medium and high voltage switching.
  • Extensive experience in testing and troubleshooting medium and high voltage equipment, including transformers, potential transformers, current transformers, circuit breakers, relays, contactors, motors, and inverters.
  • Capability to retrieve relay files and documentation.
  • Proficient in utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for tracking maintenance activities.
  • Strong computer skills in a Windows environment (Microsoft Office Suite) are essential.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently.
  • Self-motivated and accountable, with the ability to critically analyze processes and challenges.
  • Exemplary integrity.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a secure work environment by strictly following company protocols.
  • Accountable for personal safety, quality, and adherence to schedules.
  • Comply with Job Hazard Analysis, Pre-Job Brief, and Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures.
  • Under supervision, responsible for various preventive maintenance tasks including measuring, reading, testing, and executing maintenance procedures on all site components.
  • Effectively communicate with remote operators.
  • Ensure that CMMS work orders are completed thoroughly. Prepare necessary documentation for procurement and utilization of materials and vendor services.
  • Verify that all documentation and required reports are reviewed, complete, submitted, and filed appropriately.
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication across all necessary organizational sectors to resolve plant issues.
  • Participate in and successfully complete all assigned training in safety, environmental, and other relevant areas.
  • Maintain work area and site cleanliness to 5S standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to the most senior site managers or supervisors based on the on-site organizational hierarchy.
  • May receive tasks from advanced technical staff – Technician III and above.

Travel and Additional Compensation:

  • Travel may be necessary based on regional requirements.
  • Monthly stipend provided for holding a Master Electrician License.

Physical Demands:

Must be capable of bending, kneeling, twisting, lifting up to 70 pounds, climbing ladders, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended durations.

Ability to work in varying temperatures, exposure to sunlight, and navigate uneven terrain on foot.
