Position Overview

Fairview Health Services is seeking a dedicated Custodian to join our team. This role is essential in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients and staff.

Work Location: Fairview Health Services facilities

Work Schedule: 32 hours biweekly, with a commitment to every other weekend

Shift Details: Day shifts

Weekly Schedule

Week 1:
Thursday: 7:00am - 3:30pm

Week 2:
Tuesday: 7:00am - 3:30pm
Saturday: 7:00am - 3:30pm
Sunday: 7:00am - 3:30pm

This position is not eligible for benefits. Other roles may qualify for benefits.

This position is represented by the AFSCME union.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Engage in initiatives to enhance clinical satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct daily cleaning of all occupied areas to ensure a sanitary environment for patients.
  • Prepare discharge units and surgical areas, ensuring thorough cleaning at the end of each day.
  • Maintain cleanliness of various surfaces, including hard floors and carpets, as well as offices and public spaces.
  • Respond to emergency spills and breakages promptly to mitigate safety hazards.
  • Complete special assignments as directed and report outcomes to supervisors.
  • Understand and uphold security protocols for medications and IV solutions.
  • Restock supplies during cleaning routines to ensure adequate availability.
  • Utilize cleaning supplies and equipment effectively to promote safety and cost efficiency.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a similar role is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Ability to lift and transport moderate to heavy items.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment.
  • Basic understanding of safety and sanitation protocols.
