Job Summary:

As a CDL Driver with Mid-State Industrial Maintenance, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of materials and equipment to support our business needs. This includes operating a variety of trucks and trailers, performing vehicle inspections, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a range of trucks and trailers, including coupling and uncoupling trailers as needed.
  • Perform regular vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or damage to the vehicles.
  • Complete minor truck and trailer maintenance, and coordinate additional maintenance as needed.
  • Collect and verify delivery instructions, and check load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain DOT required logbooks, and obtain receipts and signatures for delivered goods.
  • Safely and properly load and secure all loads, and assist with unloading as needed.
  • Communicate with customers, dispatch, and management on arrival and departure schedules.
  • Operate a smartphone to take photographs and document time worked per job and other parameters.
Requirements:
  • Must possess a Class A CDL and have a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct hauling experience.
  • Ability to read and write English fluently, and demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Customer service oriented, with excellent active listening skills and a high level of integrity.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment, and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Work Environment:

Mid-State Industrial Maintenance is a drug-free workplace, and all employees are required to pass a post-offer/pre-placement DOT drug screen and annual physicals. A background check is also required to verify criminal history.

Physical Requirements:

Talk/Hear: Must be able to communicate with dispatchers, respond to instructions or alerts, and ensure safe and efficient navigation.

Stand/Sit: Frequently need to sit for long periods while operating the vehicle and stand for tasks such as inspecting the truck, loading or unloading cargo, and performing maintenance checks.

Walk: Occasionally required to walk to inspect the vehicle, load or unload cargo, and navigate around the truck during stops and deliveries.

Use hands/fingers to handle or feel: Frequently required to use hands and fingers to operate controls, handle and secure cargo, and perform vehicle inspections and maintenance tasks.

Climb: Required to access the truck's cab, inspect or secure cargo, and perform maintenance tasks on higher parts of the vehicle.

Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl: Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to inspect or secure cargo in lower compartments, perform vehicle maintenance, or retrieve items from lower areas.

See: Must have adequate vision to navigate safely, monitor traffic conditions, inspect their vehicle, and ensure compliance with regulations.

Carry, weight, Lift: Regularly required to carry or lift to load or unload cargo and manage supplies or equipment needed for their route.

Exposure to work: Works in various environmental conditions, including exposure to weather conditions, noise, vibration, and traffic. May also encounter heights and confined spaces during duties.
