Job Summary

As a key member of our transportation team at Mid-State Industrial Maintenance, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of materials and equipment to support our business operations. This includes a variety of goods such as pumps, machine parts, steel, plate, pipe fabrications, and structures, as well as wheeled and tracked equipment in different truck and trailer combinations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a range of trucks and trailers, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Couple or uncouple trailers, performing tasks such as changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth-wheel locks.
  • Conduct regular vehicle and equipment inspections to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order, documenting any defects or issues.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles, and complete minor maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Collect and verify delivery instructions, routes, and load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate DOT required logbooks, obtain receipts and signatures for delivered goods, and safely load and secure all loads or assist with the same.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, dispatch, and management on arrival and departure schedules, and operate a smartphone to take photographs and document time worked per job and other parameters.
Requirements
  • Must possess a Class A CDL and have a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct hauling experience.
  • Ability to read and write English fluently, and possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Positive, can-do attitude, with strong active listening skills and a high level of integrity.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment.

Working Environment

This is a full-time position, with regular on-call requirements. The employee must be able to safely perform the essential duties of the job without risking harm to themselves or others. The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reaching with hands and arms, climbing stairs and working at heights, and lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
