Key Responsibilities

The Floral/Home & Gift Sales Manager will oversee the sales and merchandising operations within the Floral/Home & Gift department. This role is pivotal in ensuring excellence in product presentation and sales performance, focusing on production, pricing strategies, promotional activities, and product placement to meet financial goals.

Specific duties include:

  • Ensuring the achievement of sales and financial objectives for both corporate and store budgets.
  • Developing merchandising strategies that align with profitability and sales growth targets.
  • Collaborating with the department to maintain consistent merchandising standards and optimal product assortments.
  • Creating promotional strategies and training programs for the Floral/Home & Gift team, including documented standard operating procedures.
  • Managing all aspects of Floral/Home & Gift products, including vendor selection, product innovation, pricing strategies, and merchandising techniques.
  • Planning effective advertising and promotional campaigns that align with corporate marketing initiatives.
  • Communicating merchandising strategies to store teams in a timely manner to ensure successful implementation.
  • Assisting in achieving inventory management goals, including turnover rates and margin percentages.
  • Partnering with operations and store management to develop staffing and workflow models that enhance customer service and meet labor targets.
  • Staying informed about competitor activities and industry trends.
  • Facilitating team meetings to educate staff on new programs and processes.
  • Maintaining and updating order guides and departmental documentation.
  • Creating action plans to address performance issues within the department.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A robust background in sales and merchandising, with extensive knowledge of the floral and home gift industry.
  • 5-6 years of experience in retail grocery or the floral/home & gift sector.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in various office software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and email management.
  • The ability to create and edit written and electronic materials effectively.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours and travel as needed to different locations and events.
  • Strong financial acumen and the ability to recognize trends and set goals.
