Role Overview:

  • Deliver **Comprehensive Medical Care** and assistance to varsity athletes in accordance with Harvard University Athletic Training Standards.
  • Make independent and informed decisions regarding **therapeutic interventions**, rehabilitation exercises, treatment plans, and return-to-play strategies.
  • Support assigned varsity teams, provide immediate care, and assist with special events as required.
  • Implement strategies for injury prevention and prepare athletes for practices and competitions through methods such as taping, bracing, therapeutic exercises, and advanced technology.
  • Refer student-athletes to medical professionals when necessary and ensure adherence to medical advice regarding injury treatment.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals, including student-athletes, coaching staff, healthcare providers, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Exhibit the ability to make critical decisions related to sports medicine emergency protocols and execute them effectively across various athletic settings.

The Sports Medicine Specialist role at Harvard University Health Services (HUHS) entails delivering high-quality athletic training services to intercollegiate athletes, ensuring outstanding medical care, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. Ideal candidates will possess the autonomy to make significant decisions regarding injury management, emergency response, and administrative responsibilities, while collaborating with various stakeholders, including strength and conditioning staff and medical professionals. Furthermore, candidates should demonstrate strong multitasking capabilities, excellent communication skills, and a talent for effective task management and strategic planning for multiple teams and student-athletes. This position involves supporting specific varsity sports and encompasses various administrative responsibilities, operating on a year-round basis.
