Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Help Desk Technician to join our team at the City of Plymouth, MN. As a key member of our IT department, you will provide technical support to our information technology infrastructure and system users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and configure hardware and software to ensure seamless system operation.
  • Manage user accounts, configure and maintain phone systems, and implement computer security standards.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to questions and requests for assistance, and documenting requests in our help desk software.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot network and system failures, performing tests to isolate problems and monitor online activity.
  • Support the IT asset life cycle, receiving, preparing, and installing new equipment, retiring and disposing of hardware and software, and coordinating with vendors.
  • Manage the deployment of technology to users, training new hires on infrastructure and operating system use, and scheduling requests to add, move, or change hardware, software, or phones.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Associate degree in MIS/IT or related field, and/or one year of experience supporting an enterprise environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of current network and workstation operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of key software products used by the city.
  • Strong customer service and training skills.
