Job Description

Job Summary:

The IT Systems Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our systems, functionality, and security in support of our community health improvement work. This position will serve as the HIPAA Privacy & Security Officer and lead the Risk Management Team under the Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effective IT Program Management:
    • Act as a liaison between BHT staff and our external IT contractor, handling various technical issues and escalating to the IT contractor when necessary.
    • Keep a close record of all internal hardware, including computers, monitors, docking stations, etc., and reset and deploy to staff as necessary.
    • Act as HIPAA security & privacy officer, monitoring potential threats and training staff as necessary.
    • Assist teams with various technical projects and assist in the facilitation of monthly community meetings, ensuring technical standards are met.
  • Technical Support:
    • Provide field technical support to end-users, resolving hardware, software, and systems-related issues promptly and effectively, connecting with the external IT contractor where appropriate.
    • Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other devices.
    • Coordinate with the IT contractor to manage and troubleshoot systems as needed.
    • Provide support to regular Zoom and in-person meetings, troubleshooting tech setup as needed.
  • Cybersecurity:
    • Maintain a high standard for organization's cybersecurity practices, including recommending and implementing updates to cybersecurity practices in collaboration with our IT and Security Risk Analysis (SRA) contractors.
    • Implement and maintain IT policies, procedures, and best practices in collaboration with the IT contractor.
  • Leadership and Communication:
    • Provide administrative support and take up program duties as needed, within the scope of their role.
    • Ensure that security practices are followed, tools are utilized, and every detail of a program is centrally located, well-documented, and kept up to date.
    • Regularly interact with colleagues, external vendors, and community partners, and must display good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Equity and Inclusion:
    • Understand the importance of how resources, programming, and partnerships can disrupt systemic racism and oppression.
    • Centre the needs of impacted communities when executing their job functions and make decisions for their program(s), in alignment with BHT's mission and values.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, PHI management/security, and other relevant compliance standards in the healthcare industry preferred.
  • Experience in Apple/Mac environment.
  • MS admin center/Azure experience.
  • Solid organizational and time-management skills; consistently delivering on established schedules, guidelines, protocols, and deadlines.
  • Able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills necessary to communicate effectively with staff.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, and precision.
  • Related lived experience that demonstrates the skills and qualifications listed above.
