Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at the Alabama Department of Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing speech and language services to students with communication disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and conduct language and speech screenings in schools
  • Evaluate and diagnose children with speech and language disorders
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with speech and language disabilities
  • Provide individual and group therapy for children with language, speech, or hearing disorders
  • Consult with teachers and other school personnel to develop strategies for supporting students with speech and language disabilities
  • Collaborate with other professionals to develop and implement programs to support students with speech and language disabilities
  • Monitor student progress and adjust therapy plans as needed
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in speech and language therapy
Requirements
  • State certification as a Speech Language Pathologist
  • Demonstrated expertise in speech and language therapy
  • Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other school personnel
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
