We are seeking a highly skilled Psychologist I to join our team at the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice. As a Psychologist I, you will be responsible for providing psychological services to youth involved with the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Job Summary:The Psychologist I will provide evaluation services, including clinical interviews with youth and family members, record reviews, and consultations with Department of Juvenile Justice staff and other agencies involved with youth being evaluated. The successful candidate will also administer and interpret psychological tests and measures, prepare reports, and provide expert testimony in Family Court as required.

- Administer and interpret psychological tests and measures.
- Prepare reports and provide expert testimony in Family Court as required.
- Conduct waiver evaluations, which must be conducted by doctoral-level, licensed psychologists.
- Participate in Department of Juvenile Justice treatment planning and interagency staffing.
- Consult with Department of Juvenile Justice staff regarding youth with special needs.
- Provide consultation to Department of Juvenile Justice staff regarding youth involved with the Department.
- Attend to administrative matters, including relevant and/or mandatory trainings related to the position.
- A doctorate in applied psychology from an accredited college or university and experience in applied psychology.
- Thorough knowledge of current psychological theory and practice, psychological evaluation and assessment techniques with children and adolescents, and some knowledge of forensic psychological issues in Family Court.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to present clear and comprehensive oral and written reports.
- The ability to work and communicate effectively with youth, families, staff, and other entities.
- The ability to work in a secured facility setting as needed, as some evaluations are with incarcerated youth.
- Must be mobile and able to lift 25 pounds.
- Able to work varied hours and travel with some overnight stays.
- A doctoral degree in applied psychology from an APA-approved program in psychology and possession of a current license to practice psychology in the State of South Carolina or license eligibility within two years.
