We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nursing Assistant I to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our recovery team, you will provide high-quality patient care services under the clinical supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) in an inpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide emergency, health, and personal care services to patients, observing and reporting patient conditions and behaviors.
- Interact with patients therapeutically, promoting living and social skills to encourage progress towards a lesser restrictive environment.
- Participate in individualized and unit-based programming, serving as a liaison to the recovery team or admissions team.
- Assist licensed nurses in preparing patients for medication administration or treatment, including taking and monitoring vital signs.
- Actively promote safety through continuous monitoring of the environment and engagement with patients to minimize unsafe situations and injuries.
- Completion of work requires use of simple and/or routine duties, with decision making based on simple and well-defined guidelines.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English to effectively communicate and carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to provide patient care, administer first aid, and conduct Treatment Intervention Protection Strategies (TIPS).
