About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Veterinarian/Program Director to join our team at Charles River Laboratories. As a key member of our Insourcing Solutions team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of our animal subjects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement animal care policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in the development and execution of preventive medicine programs.
  • Provide clinical and surgical support, including physical examinations, anesthesia, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Collaborate with Colony Manager and veterinarians to establish veterinary and animal care standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal regulations and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an AVMA-accredited program.
  • New Mexico state license within 1 year.
  • Licensed to practice in the United States.
  • Maintain eligibility for DEA licensure.
  • ACLAM board certification/eligibility preferred.
  • Residency training in Laboratory Animal Medicine or four years of primate facility management experience.
  • Experience with captive chimpanzees preferred.
  • General operations, animal facility design, and personnel management experience required.
  • Thorough understanding of Animal Welfare regulations and AAALAC accreditation processes.
  • Eligibility for the position based on negative TB, Hepatitis C, and drug test.
