Job Summary:

As an HVAC Maintenance Specialist with the Hattiesburg Public School District, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all HVAC and Refrigeration systems within the district. This includes performing routine maintenance, repairs, and installations to meet or exceed local, state, and federal codes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and repair all HVAC equipment, including pumps, condensers, motors, and other refrigerating equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all HVAC and Refrigeration systems, including oiling and greasing motors, pumps, and air handling equipment.
• Check, adjust, and/or replace belts on HVAC equipment and maintain and repair all refrigerators, ice machines, walk-in coolers, and freezers.
• Install, assemble, and repair pumps, condensers, motors, and other refrigerating equipment, and check, evaluate, and charge refrigerant as needed.
• Repair/replace and calibrate HVAC and Refrigeration components as needed, ensuring all work, repairs, and installations meet or exceed local, state, and federal codes.
• Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance and support the Hattiesburg Public School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan.

Requirements:

• Sufficient education/training in the installation, operations, and repair of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
• HVAC Commercial license is preferred, and 3.5 years of successful execution in HVAC repair/installation is preferred.
• Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and sheet metal trades as they relate to installing, repairing/servicing HVAC and Refrigeration equipment, and working knowledge of high/low voltage electricity and its applications.
• Ability to diagnose/troubleshoot and repair various types of HVAC and Refrigeration systems, including Water Source Heat Pumps, Chillers, Boilers, Conventional Split Systems, Mini Split Systems, Package Units, and Cooler and Freezer Units.
• Ability to estimate repair costs with detailed description on parts, communicate both verbally and in writing, and possess skills to develop interpersonal relationships with customers, peers, and administrative personnel.
• Valid Mississippi driver's license.
