Job Summary

The University of Georgia is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team in the Department of Horticulture. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research and project execution in the Small Fruit Program, focusing on improving soil health and sustainability in blueberry production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on soil management practices and their impact on soil health and blueberry production
  • Collaborate with professors, field technicians, graduate students, and international student assistants to achieve project goals
  • Collect, manage, and analyze data to inform research findings and recommendations
  • Develop and write articles and reports on research findings and project progress
  • Support extension activities, including field days, extension publications, and farm visits
  • Participate in periodic travel to field sites across South Georgia and overnight travel for field data collection
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Horticulture, Agronomy, Soil Science, or related discipline
  • Experience in soil management practices, soil health, and soil nutrient availability
  • Strong analytical and scientific writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse audiences and teams
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Valid and unrestricted Driver's License
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a hot and humid environment, with occasional bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and driving as needed to perform job duties.
