of Horticulture at the University of Georgia-Tifton Campus in the Small Fruit Program led by Dr. Zilfina Rubio. The goals of this project are to assess the incorporation of cover crops into blueberry production to improve soil health, increase the sustainability of blueberry production, and improve the quality of life of blueberry farmers in South Georgia. The Small Fruit Program focuses on improving the efficiency of the production system by improving production management practices. Our research projects address industry issues and provide information and solutions applicable to the berry industry in Georgia.The incumbent will collaborate with several professors from the Griffin and Athens campuses, field technicians, graduate students, and international student assistants. The incumbent will be involved in research, project execution and field work, data collection/management/analysis, article and report writing, and support extension activities (field days, extension publications, and farm visits). The postdoctoral position will be for three months of the year harvesting plot across Georgia, so the individual must be able to work in a hot and humid environment.The position is initially a 2-year, full-time appointment, with the option and expectation for extension contingent on funding, available work, and successful performance. Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position Successful candidates will have a degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Soil Science, or related discipline. Candidates with experience in soil management practices, soil health, soil nutrient availability are encouraged to apply.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Strong analytical and scientific writing skills. Will use Interpersonal skills to work effectively in a variety of audiences and with an interdisciplinary team. Work independently and in a team environment. Experience with fieldwork and interest in agricultural production and cover crop implementation and research. The position will involve periodic travel to field sites across South Georgia and travel overnight for field data collection. Will maintain a valid and unrestricted Driver’s License and be cleared to drive for university business. Physical Demands Bending, lifting up to fifty pounds, working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Driving as needed to perform job duties. Is this a Position of Trust?
