Job Summary

The Center for Inherited Blood Disorders (CIBD) is a mission-driven non-profit organization dedicated to delivering high-quality, comprehensive, and family-centered care to individuals with rare, chronic inherited blood disorders.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive care and treatment to patients in the Infusion Center, including thorough patient assessment, medication administration, and patient education.
  • Assure the prescribing and safe administration of various infusion therapies and other related medications.
  • Insert short peripheral vascular access devices and discontinue central vascular access devices safely and with patient comfort and dignity.
  • Administer ordered infusions, injections, subcutaneous, oral, and other medications as described under the center's scope of services.
  • Accurately document patient care services within the electronic medical record.
  • Review orders received and verify medical records and diagnostic tests to support diagnosis and treatment.
  • Perform any necessary lab work/testing and provide follow-up on test orders, reporting results to providers, patients, or legal representatives.
  • Observe patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments and record it in the EMR.
  • Transfer patients to the Emergency Department as necessary per facility protocol and inform legal representative(s) and notify the ER of patient's condition.
Requirements
  • Masters of Science in Nursing or Bachelors of Science in Nursing with a Graduate degree from an accredited School of Nurse Practitioner.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory setting.
  • Minimum 3 years of infusion therapy experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of pediatric experience.
  • Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner License in California.
  • Family Nurse Practitioner certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
  • American Academy of Nurse Practitioner Certified Board (AANPCB) certification.

About the Organization

The Center for Comprehensive Care & Diagnosis of Inherited Blood Disorders (CIBD) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to providing comprehensive care for patients and their families with rare, chronic inherited blood disorders.

CIBD is a part of a nationwide network of over 140 Hemophilia Treatment Centers that use multidisciplinary teams of blood disorder specialists to provide expert comprehensive diagnosis, medical care, outreach, education, outcomes monitoring, surveillance, and prevention services to people with hemophilia, Sickle-Cell Anemia, Thalassemia, Von Willebrand Disease, and other related hematology conditions.

CIBD is the regional grantee for the Western States Region/Region IX providing regional leadership, fiscal and administrative oversight, grants management, capacity building, clinical education, technical assistance, evaluation, and outreach to public and private health agencies at the local, state, and federal levels.
