Job Overview

Alternative Services - Connecticut, Inc is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Instructor to join our team. As a Residential Instructor, you will play a vital role in providing daily support and supervision to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Consumer Supervision: Provide one-on-one support and supervision to individuals with developmental disabilities, promoting their independence, safety, and well-being.
  2. Program Operations: Assist in the implementation of daily programs and activities, ensuring a fun, safe, and healthy environment for all consumers.
  3. Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of consumer progress, incidents, and medication administration.
  4. Medication Administration: Distribute medications according to each consumer's medication schedule and DDS Medication Certification guidelines.
  5. Emergency Procedures: Know and follow emergency home procedures for fire, hurricanes, power outages, accidents, or other serious incidents affecting residents.
  6. Training and Development: Participate in in-service training, seminars, or other opportunities for professional development, and provide training for Agency personnel as required.
Requirements
  1. Education: Minimum possession of a High School Diploma or a G.E.D.
  2. Experience: Minimum two years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or that are dually diagnosed.
  3. Certifications: Ability to obtain and maintain certifications in CPR, First Aid, PMT, and DDS State Medication Administration.
  4. Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, transfer, and physically intervene with individuals as required.
Accountability

The Residential Instructor is directly accountable to the Residential Manager or said other person as may be substituted for the Residential Manager.
