Position Overview

The Legal Advisor for Corporate Affairs collaborates closely with the VP of Legal to ensure that global product compliance and litigation responsibilities are effectively managed by stakeholders worldwide. A significant aspect of this role involves the drafting, reviewing, and amending of various agreements. Furthermore, the Legal Advisor will offer general legal counsel to members of the Elevate Outdoor Collective team and support corporate compliance initiatives, particularly in product risk management.

The ideal candidate should possess a curious mindset, be eager to tackle new challenges, and have a passion for consumer product development and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with Elevate Outdoor Collective personnel to gain insights into the company's technology and business, providing practical legal guidance that balances legal and business needs on a global scale.
  • Offer strategic legal advice to leaders within the Legal Department and senior stakeholders across other departments regarding product compliance, litigation, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of agreements covering diverse business and commercial matters.
  • Lead initiatives and project teams focused on compliance and sustainability to ensure proper oversight.
  • Create and maintain a repository of standardized agreements and contract templates for essential documents.
  • Oversee risk management practices for the organization, including managing insurance renewals and related issues.
  • Design and deliver in-house training for a diverse range of stakeholders globally.
  • Select and manage external counsel assigned to company litigation cases.
  • Conduct legal and regulatory research as necessary, utilizing both internal and external resources.
  • Be available for meetings scheduled outside of standard business hours as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or an equivalent international degree, along with completion of a legal apprenticeship.
  • Active membership in WSBA or eligibility to meet admission requirements in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in transactional and/or litigation roles, either in-house or at a national or international law firm.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a strong enthusiasm for collaboration.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and sound business acumen.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Attention to detail, even amidst competing priorities.
  • Comfortable in a dynamic environment with a proactive approach to ambiguity.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service-oriented mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience at a national or international law firm or in-house experience at a manufacturing or consumer product company.
  • Knowledge of global consumer product laws and regulations (e.g., CPSIA, FTC Act, CSRD).
  • Experience with products liability litigation and its management.
  • Experience in supporting and implementing legal operations tools and processes, with a comfort in learning new systems and a focus on iterative process development.
  • Project management skills and familiarity with best practices in project management.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand in front of a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of 5-20 pounds may be required.

Salary Range

This is a salaried position with Elevate Outdoor Collective. The typical pay range for this role is $130,000-$150,000 annually. The actual base salary offered may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
