Job Summary

Trinity Health is seeking a highly skilled Genetic Counselor to join our team. As a Genetic Counselor, you will play a critical role in providing genetic counseling and cancer risk assessment to individuals and families with a history of cancer or known risk factors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients and families at risk for familial cancers, including hereditary breast/ovarian cancers, colorectal cancer syndromes, familial melanoma, and hereditary pancreatic cancer.
  • Participate in clinical, educational, and research areas of genetics counseling and screening.
  • Develop and implement formal education efforts to educate healthcare providers on identifying at-risk families.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff in the Cancer program to provide comprehensive care.
  • Participate in research efforts to improve screening rates of at-risk families and assist in the development of genetic modifiers for selective treatment modification.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from a program accredited by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
  • ABGC Board certification as a Certified Genetics Counselor (CGC) by the American Board Genetic Counseling (AMGC) or the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG).
  • Experience using the CioDBx database system is required. One to three years experience in outpatient cancer genetics counseling preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
