We are seeking a highly skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a key member of our Radiology Department, you will be responsible for performing imaging procedures and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Rotate through various diagnostic areas to develop technical skills and expertise.
- Perform image procedures based on patient assessment, request, and imaging protocols.
- Produce high-quality images using imaging equipment and systems.
- Select exposure factors to achieve optimal image quality while minimizing radiation exposure.
- Minimize radiation exposure to self, patients, and staff by using shielding, collimation, and other safety measures.
- Maintain expertise in anatomy, physiology, and pathology to optimize procedures and ensure patient safety.
- Assess patient needs and provide imaging-related support and comfort.
- Prepare contrast agents, pharmaceuticals, and sterile trays for imaging procedures.
- Educate patients about radiographic procedures and answer questions.
- Promote a team approach to providing Radiology services by interacting positively with technical, support, nursing, and medical staff.
- Engage in problem-solving, crisis management, and performance improvements to enhance patient care.
- Completion of an accredited radiography school.
- Registration or registry eligibility by the ARRT in Radiography.
- Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
- West Virginia state criminal background check required, and Federal, if applicable, for DHHR BMS regulated area.
Exposure to minimal radiation within national standards, monitored by Radiation Safety and use of dosimeter.
Exposure to airborne particles and bodily fluids.
Operation of imaging equipment with automated moving parts.
Skills and Abilities- Ability to interact positively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to prioritize and deal with multiple situations simultaneously.
- Ability to improvise with altered positioning techniques, equipment manipulation, and accessory devices when routine positioning is compromised.
