We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Engineer Associate IV to join our team at the State of South Carolina. As a key member of our department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of people and goods across the state.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the District Construction Engineer in attending design field reviews, preconstruction/partnering conferences, project progress meetings, final inspections, safety/personnel meetings, and other project-related meetings.
- Supervise Resident Construction Engineers assigned to field offices in District Five, monitoring their efforts to ensure they meet the objectives of the performance Standards/Requirements and Performance Characteristics outlined in the Employee Performance Management System.
- Meet with Resident Construction Engineers to provide feedback on their overall work performance and rate them annually.
- Assist the District Construction Engineer in monitoring ongoing construction projects in District Five to ensure adherence with plans, contract documents, and specifications.
- Assist the District Construction Engineer in reviewing and resolving project-related issues when escalated to the district level.
- Meet with elected officials, county officials, municipalities, utilities, and the general public regarding construction activities.
- Respond to requests for status of ongoing and upcoming projects when necessary.
- Assist with the review and disposition of correspondence, reports, and general paperwork associated with all construction projects in District Five.
- Review invoices for project-specific and work order contracts.
- Review proposals and serve on selection committees as assigned.
- Review preliminary plans, estimates, and contract documents, including all required specifications and special provisions.
- Supervise and assist the District Surveyor with all survey-related duties for District Five.
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management.
- Six (6) years of engineering or construction management work experience.
- A valid motor vehicle operator's license.
