This role provides an opportunity to leverage your expertise in materials, structural analysis, and design of both structural steel and reinforced concrete. As a vital member of our engineering and design team, you will engage in a variety of power transmission modifications and enhancements, supporting client evaluations and recommendations through the development of calculations, design documents, and specifications.
  • Engage in complex projects that involve investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving diverse structural engineering challenges.
  • Conduct structural analysis and detailed design of steel frameworks, connections, concrete elements, equipment, and foundations.
  • Create integrated structural designs and perform necessary calculations for the planned initiatives.
  • Interact directly with clients to convey technical information effectively.
  • Prepare technical specifications for structural materials.
  • Conduct independent reviews of work produced by colleagues, including calculations and drawing preparations.
  • Coordinate and guide other engineers, project managers, client representatives, and suppliers to ensure a comprehensive and timely design process.
  • Evaluate existing facilities to recommend upgrades and replacements, presenting findings and suggestions to clients and peers.
  • Advance your career through peer-learning by sharing knowledge with experienced engineers via our systems of process and associated 'Communities of Practice.'
  • Travel to client and vendor locations for design reviews and to substation sites for construction coordination and field verification of designs.
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of three days per week in the office, allowing for remote work flexibility for two days.

Depending on your location, this opportunity includes a generous relocation package.

Qualifications

We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.

Essential skills and experience:
  • A BSCE or MSCE from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with a robust academic foundation in materials behavior, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
  • A minimum of five years of experience as a practicing structural engineer, ideally as part of a project team focused on the design and enhancement of electrical substations.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with clients at an appropriate technical level.
  • Capability to perform occasional site visits and attend scoping meetings.
  • Experience in drafting and providing supporting documentation for structural engineering calculations.
  • Ability to complete tasks within budget and schedule while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
  • Technical knowledge of the practical application of structural engineering, including analysis for structural supports, loads, and design integrity.
  • Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principles necessary for producing technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Proficiency in software such as MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, RISA 3D, and RISA Floor.
  • Knowledge of design codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
  • PE license.
  • Experience in designing light industrial building structures.
