Position Overview:

The Clinical Assessment Specialist plays a pivotal role in the initial assessment and admission process of individuals seeking detoxification and residential treatment services for substance abuse disorders at Charles River Recovery.

The primary focus of this role is to conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and administer the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) to determine the appropriate level of care and support needed for each client.


Key Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough biopsychosocial assessments upon admission, gathering information on the client's medical history, substance use patterns, mental health status, social support network, and other relevant factors.

Administer the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) to assess suicidal ideation and behavior, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.

Complete an American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) assessment to determine the appropriate level of care and treatment recommendations for each client.

Collaborate with the clinical team to develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, client preferences, and treatment goals.

Provide crisis intervention and support to clients in acute distress, coordinating with medical and mental health professionals as needed.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessment findings, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.

Facilitate group sessions focused on substance abuse education, coping strategies, relapse prevention, and other relevant topics to support clients' recovery.

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss client progress, treatment planning, and discharge planning.


Requirements:

A high school diploma and a minimum of one year of professional experience in behavioral health or psychiatry are required. A bachelor's degree in a social work or related field is preferred.

The ability to read and interpret written information, write clearly and informatively, and edit work for spelling and grammar is essential.

Able to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listen and get clarification, respond well to questions, demonstrate group presentation skills, and participate in meetings.

Licensure is not required but a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor (LADC) II or I is strongly preferred.

Knowledge of healthcare and detoxification processes is necessary.
