Role Summary:

Join Wellmark as a Payroll Analyst:
In the role of Payroll Analyst, you will be responsible for executing comprehensive payroll processing and associated tasks necessary for managing multi-state and multi-company biweekly payrolls. This includes maintaining accurate records, processing various deductions, preparing accounting entries, documenting procedures, and generating routine and special reports as required by management.

Your contributions will be vital in the development, implementation, and documentation of payroll processes and controls that affect the company's financial statements. You will also evaluate the effectiveness of these controls to ensure that financial statements are accurate, complete, and compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley principles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expertise in payroll administration, ensuring compliance with regulations and efficient processing of payroll.
  • Administer financial transactions related to payroll accruals and liabilities.
  • Ensure accurate general ledger postings and assist with complex payroll-related accounting inquiries.
  • Conduct research and resolve inquiries, enhancing service levels within the Payroll team.
  • Coordinate information for audits and legal inquiries.
  • Prepare reports related to compensation and labor statistics for various stakeholders.
  • Assist in auditing payroll reports and year-end documentation.
  • Utilize reporting tools to generate payroll reports for analysis.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders and vendors to optimize processes.
  • Adhere to payroll procedures and recommend improvements for efficiency.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Associate's Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in payroll administration.
  • Experience with complex payroll structures and strong knowledge of taxation laws.
  • Familiarity with corporate benefits policies and their application to payroll.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in generating and analyzing payroll reports.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Workday software.
