Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), a premier government contractor, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Design Engineer to join our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN.

This is a unique opportunity to work on critical projects that contribute to national security, while also being part of a dynamic and diverse team. As a Senior Process Design Engineer, you will have the chance to develop high-quality design packages, provide engineering procurement and field technical support, and troubleshoot plant systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process engineering, a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, and excellent communication skills. You will be working as a team member of an integrated project team or as a technical lead for a multi-discipline task, providing input to System Engineers and other plant customers.

The salary for this position is estimated to be around $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance, retirement plans, and opportunities for growth and development.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops high-quality detailed design packages, providing engineering procurement and field technical support to implement those designs, and providing expertise for troubleshooting and technical assessments of plant systems.
  • Designs involve the preparation of conceptual engineering deliverables such as cost-estimating bills of material and an-hour estimates, statements of work, design criteria, and title II engineering deliverables including preparation of calculations and analyses, construction specifications & drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Works as a team member of an integrated project team, or as a technical lead for a multi-discipline task and will routinely provide input to System Engineers and other plant customers.
  • Performs walk-downs in the existing plant facilities in order to generate design documents and provide field support to craft personnel.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience 15-20 years, MS with 14-18 years' experience.
  • DOE Q clearance.
  • Pre-employment Drug Screen - External applicants selected for this position are required to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
