Medical Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Specialist to join our team in New York. As a Medical Specialist, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating patients, advising and conferring with other healthcare professionals, and developing medical policy and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- • Assist in the development or revision of medical policy and procedures
- • Review lab work, specialty consults, hospital discharges, medical visit summaries, and diagnostic reports to assist the treatment team
- • Discuss care with hospital or rehabilitation facility providers to ensure continuity of care
- • Review and approve discharge summaries prior to accepting individuals back into residence
- • Review medical information for new admissions to ensure appropriate care can be provided
- • Communicate with team members regarding medical issues and participate in team meetings as needed
- • Communicate with family members and advocates to explain medical or treatment issues
- • Provide short-term urgently needed prescription renewals when a community medical provider is unavailable
- • Function as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team, attend meetings, and serve on committees to improve services and outcomes

- • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
