Job Title: Crossing Guard

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious individual to serve as a Crossing Guard. As a Crossing Guard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe passage of school children and pedestrians at designated intersections and road crossings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe road traffic to determine the best timing for road crossings
  • Admit children and pedestrians into designated crossing locations
  • Escort children and pedestrians as needed to ensure safe crossings
  • Report on time to assigned location at pre-determined times
  • Turn pedestrian traffic lights on and off
  • Set out safety cones
  • Wear and use required safety apparel and equipment
  • Report faulty and/or malfunctioning lights, apparel, and equipment to supervisor
  • Clear snow or debris from walkways to ensure safe, unobstructed passage
  • Monitor behavior of children and educate them regarding traffic safety as appropriate

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Some knowledge of traffic rules and regulations
  • Pedestrian road safety
  • Emergency procedures, including first aid and CPR
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public, including pedestrians and motorists
  • Good judgment at all times
  • Remain calm during stressful situations

Work Environment:

This position requires a variety of physical activities, including walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, stretching, reaching, lifting, and shoveling. The job is performed outdoors and is subject to exposure to weather elements, including heat, cold, wind, and wet conditions. Daily exposure to hazardous physical work conditions.

Benefits:

This position offers a $50 sign-on bonus and a $500 bonus if 300 or more hours are worked.
