Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a Crossing Guard. As a Crossing Guard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe passage of school children and pedestrians at designated intersections and road crossings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Observe road traffic to determine the best timing for road crossings
  • Admit children and pedestrians into designated crossing locations
  • Escort children and pedestrians as needed to ensure safe crossings
  • Report on time to assigned location at pre-determined times
  • Turn pedestrian traffic lights on and off
  • Set out safety cones
  • Wear and use required safety apparel and equipment
  • Report faulty and/or malfunctioning lights, apparel and equipment to supervisor
  • Clear snow or debris from walkways to ensure safe, unobstructed passage
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Experience working with children
  • Some knowledge of traffic rules and regulations; pedestrian road safety; emergency procedures, including first aid and CPR
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public, including pedestrians and motorists, using verbal and non-verbal means
Work Environment

This is a part-time position that requires working outdoors in various weather conditions. Tasks require a variety of physical activities, including walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, stretching, reaching, lifting, and shoveling. Talking, seeing, and hearing are essential to the performance of the job.
