Key Responsibilities

The Virginia Council on Economic Education (VCEE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to equipping Virginia's students with essential economic and financial knowledge. VCEE achieves this by advocating for robust educational standards and preparing K-12 educators to effectively teach these subjects through professional development and free classroom resources. Last year, VCEE positively impacted over 2,400 educators and 136,000 students, with a significant portion of participants from Title 1 schools.

Founded in 1970 by the Dean of the VCU School of Business, VCEE has been integral to VCU's community outreach. The President & CEO position is a full-time role that plays a pivotal part in ensuring the organization's mission is met. This role involves strategic leadership, overseeing operations, and ensuring the financial sustainability of the organization.

Strategic Leadership

The President & CEO will lead the strategic planning initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of VCEE. This includes:
  • Setting long-term goals and prioritizing short-term actions.
  • Assessing external conditions that may impact VCEE's mission.
  • Providing visionary leadership aligned with the strategic plan.
  • Ensuring financial stability while achieving organizational goals.

Advocacy and Relationship Management

The President & CEO will serve as the primary advocate for VCEE, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, including:
  • Educators and educational institutions.
  • Government officials and policymakers.
  • Corporate sponsors and individual donors.

This role requires effective communication and the ability to represent VCEE in various forums.

Program Delivery

The President & CEO will oversee the successful delivery of VCEE programs, ensuring:
  • Alignment with strategic goals.
  • Innovation in program design and execution.
  • Accountability for performance metrics and impact assessment.

Team Leadership

This role involves guiding and mentoring a dedicated team, ensuring:
  • High-quality program offerings.
  • Effective fundraising and financial development.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred in relevant fields.
  • Significant experience in economics, financial services, and education.
  • Proven track record in non-profit leadership and donor engagement.
  • Experience collaborating with educators and government entities.

Preferred Qualifications:
