Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Nurse Manager in a skilled nursing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing nursing staff, ensuring high-quality care for Veterans and residents, and managing staff performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Supervision: Supervise nursing staff, conduct performance appraisals, counsel staff, and recommend disciplinary actions as needed.
- Admissions and Discharges: Oversee admissions and discharges, ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and proper care protocols.
- Care Coordination: Make rounds to ensure the proper level and quality of care is provided to residents, addressing any medical or psychological needs.
- Direct Care: Provide direct care and perform complex nursing procedures when necessary.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with facility policies, state, federal, VA, and agency regulations, particularly regarding nursing practices, control of medical supplies, and medication administration.
- Staff Management: Manage staff assignments to maintain adequate coverage and call in additional staff as needed.
- Staff Development: Assist in the hiring process, staff orientation, and delivery of in-service training for nursing staff.
- Treatment Plans: Develop and update treatment plans for resident care, ensuring the plans are carried out in coordination with team nursing practices.
- Quality Assurance: Assist in creating and enforcing policies and procedures, conducting quality assurance audits, and handling emergency situations as required.
- QAPI Process: Participate in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) process mandated by CMS, incorporating Arizona Management System (AMS) methods.
- Emergency Situations: Handle significant issues such as abuse, neglect, or emergency situations, and contact the Director of Nursing Services or Administrator when necessary.
- Supply Management: Oversee the inventory of medical supplies, equipment, and medications during off-hours and ensure their security.
Requirements:
- Education: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Arizona.
- Experience: Minimum 1+ years of experience working in a Skilled Nursing or Long-term Care facility.
Skills:
- Knowledge: Principles, practices, and techniques of professional licensed nursing care in a skilled nursing environment, gerontological and geriatric nursing theory and practices, changing medical, physical, and psychological care needs of residents, effects of the aging process, community and medical resources necessary for providing quality care, team nursing practices and treatment plan development, pharmacology and medication administration, federal, state, VA, and agency laws, rules, and regulations governing nursing practice in a skilled nursing facility, security and control of medical supplies and medications, supervision, leadership, and staff development principles.
- Skill: Professional nursing methods and techniques, observing and assessing patient behavior and medical progress, problem-solving and decision-making, developing and implementing patient care plans within a team nursing environment, verbal and written communication, supervising and leading nursing staff.
- Ability: Abide by nursing regulations and ensure compliance, evaluate, analyze, and make independent decisions regarding patient health problems, respond to medical emergencies effectively, work collaboratively with professional and non-professional staff, establish and maintain effective working relationships, implement and monitor Arizona Management System (AMS) methods.
