Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist

Cook Children's Health Care System is seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team in North Richland Hills, Texas.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide in-patient, out-patient, and/or neighborhood clinic services, focusing on functional skills to enhance development, restore function, and prevent disability from pediatric conditions, illness, and injury. The Speech Language Pathologist will utilize protocols, pathways, and evidence-based clinical tools to provide recommendations inclusive of appropriate models of care and episodes of care as approved by the primary care physician.

Responsibilities:
  • Screening, assessment, evaluation, treatment, and home programming for children with feeding and swallowing disorders, articulation, voice, resonance, fluency, receptive/expressive language disorders, hearing loss, and the need for AAC devices.
  • Patient and caregiver education and training.
  • Direct consultation and collaboration with physicians, nurses, other professionals, clinics, and agencies, both within Cook Children's Health Care System and within the community.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in speech/language pathology, communication disorders, or related field.
  • Pediatric experience preferred.
  • Understanding of broad cultural aspects of native Spanish-speaking families and ability to relate to diverse cultural and ethnic populations.
  • Must meet Spanish proficiency levels defined by Cook Children's Health Care System and measured by objective and nationally recognized oral language, reading, and writing tests.
  • CPR-BLS within 30 days of employment.
  • State license or eligible for state licensure.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech/Language Pathology, or eligible for application upon completion of Clinical Fellowship Year and must be obtained within 12 months of hire to maintain employment at Cook Children's.
