Job Summary

Cayuga Health System is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Perioperative Care Assistant to join our team. As a Perioperative Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the surgical team in the operating room.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport patients and deliver stat patient specimens to appropriate areas.
  • Obtain blood/blood products from the blood bank.
  • Assist the perioperative charge nurse in the patient holding area.
  • Perform surgical clipping according to department policy.
  • Assist with patient positioning, moving, and lifting.
  • Assist the surgical team with room turnover/termination.
  • Support nursing staff in OR suites as requested.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of cleaning for turnover and termination of OR rooms.
  • Set up, clean, and deliver equipment to OR suites.
  • Return clean equipment to the proper location.
  • Maintain a neat, safe, and clean environment.
  • Restock daily supplies and set up supplies for the next day.
  • Remove trash, linen, and used equipment from OR suites at the close of cases.
  • Clean equipment, OR tables, floors, and kick buckets in assigned OR rooms.
  • Assure stock of personal protective equipment in assigned rooms and halls.
  • Maintain the decontamination room in a neat and clean manner, sending dirty carts down to Sterile Processing.
  • Clean and make up stretchers for holding use.
  • Fulfill all full-time or part-time requirements for hours worked for which hired.
  • Fulfill all weekday and weekend on-call requirements.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience in a healthcare-related role.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Requires ability to lift >25lbs and assist with patient positioning/transfers and be able to lift 50 or more lbs.
Location and Travel Requirements
  • Onsite.
Pay Range Disclosure
  • $19.50 to $25.50 per hour.
