Job Summary

Unavailable is seeking a highly skilled Patient Safety Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of patient safety and quality care.

This role will involve managing patient complaints and grievances, as well as our IRIS risk management system. You will conduct investigations into patient safety issues and provide oversight by performing a variety of duties associated with gathering information concerning professional and general liability incidents.

Responsibilities
  • Provide proactive leadership in identifying and resolving actual or potential risk issues.
  • Collects information from multiple sources and identifies cause and effect relationships.
  • Leads, facilitates, implements, develops, and communicates risk-related activities.
  • Develops strategies to promote organizational change for the improvement of the patient care environment.
  • Assures appropriate hospital and medical staff involvement.

You will also be responsible for leading and coordinating organizational response to clinical risk trends or individual issues, and developing, maintaining, and controlling event management databases.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and/or additional job-related experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in a related/similar position.
  • Two (2) years supervisory experience required.
  • Demonstrated sound decision-making ability and able to operate well under pressure in related situations.
  • Demonstrated cooperative spirit in working with others to seek problem resolution, while also being tenacious at resolving difficult situations.
  • Possesses working knowledge of appropriate questioning approach, detection of problems or opportunities, organization of information, and determination of appropriate levels of information distribution, and facilitation of necessary improvements.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare-related regulatory requirements including Medicare/CMS, State of Arizona hospital licensure, and Joint Commission.

Certification in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) is preferred.
