Job Summary

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and Surgical Team members, the Surgical Technologist is responsible for handling surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during general to moderately complex surgical procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of surgical procedures, practices, and techniques, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and surgical team members with patient preparation, patient transport, and specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs.
  • Ensure understanding of assigned surgical procedures and anticipate needs of assigned surgeon and surgical team members.
  • Provide service support related to surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Respond to emergent situations according to established procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or six (6) months specialized patient care training in the armed forces required.
  • Current BLS certification required or become BLS certified within one month of start date.
  • Surgical Technologist certification preferred but not required.
