Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team at Spire Orthopedic Partners. As a Pacu Nurse, you will provide safe and effective perioperative care for ambulatory care patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the process of patient management in the surgical center.
  • Participate in making pre-op calls to patients as needed.
  • Collaborate with front office staff on intake process as required.
  • Assist with pre-op assessment and teaching.
  • Plan and prepare for interoperative nursing care of the patient.
  • Function in the role of Scrub and Circulating nurse.
  • Create and maintain multiple sterile fields.
  • Provide equipment and supplies based on patient needs.
  • Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts as required.
  • Administer medications and solutions as prescribed.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Monitor and control the environment.
  • Participate in maintaining and assuring proper functioning of equipment and sterilizing procedures.
  • Delegate duties to competent personnel.
  • Perform post-anesthesia care and conduct discharge teaching.
  • Evaluate readiness for patient discharge and collaborate with anesthesiologist in discharge process.
  • Report any potential or actual adverse events as appropriate.
  • Document patient records clearly and maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain open communication with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum one year of recent Pre/Pacu nursing experience preferred.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
  • Working knowledge of office equipment and software.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, insurance regulations, policies, procedures, and other regulatory policies.
  • Medical office procedures, policies, practices, and medical terminology.
  • Understanding of electronic medical systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain enthusiasm in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Extremely reliable, patient, and professional.
  • React calmly and effectively under stress.
  • Interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures appropriately.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, coworkers, and the public.
