Job Overview

This role involves providing high-quality interpretation services to students in a 1:1 setting across New Mexico, facilitating effective communication between students, educators, and peers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide real-time interpretation services for students, teachers, and staff in various K-12 educational settings.
  • Interpret classroom lectures, discussions, and other instructional activities from spoken English to American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa.
  • Support students with hearing impairments in understanding and participating in educational content.
  • Work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to address any communication needs or concerns.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Certification in ASL interpretation (RID, NIC, or equivalent) or equivalent professional credentials.
  • Active licensure in New Mexico to be an interpreter.
  • Proven experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of educational terminology and classroom dynamics.
  • Excellent communication skills, both in ASL and written English.
