Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and prepare appropriate radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Conduct complex nuclear medicine examinations and utilize advanced computer systems to process and analyze patient data for accurate results.
  • Maintain meticulous records to ensure compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission standards.
  • Document patient outcomes on designated media accurately.
  • Execute quality control measures on all nuclear medicine equipment, including cameras and dose calibrators.
  • Apply advanced mathematical calculations to determine the decay of radiopharmaceuticals and their biological half-lives, as well as compound intricate drug kits.
  • When necessary, operate mobile units to provide services at various facilities.

This position requires adherence to National Patient Safety Goals, depending on the level of patient interaction involved. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will report directly to the Lead Nuclear Technician.

Physical Demands:

This role may entail additional physical requirements and respiratory fit testing. Daily exposure to low-level radiation from sealed sources and patient doses is expected, along with occasional exposure to higher radiation levels during therapeutic procedures. Candidates should be prepared for potential exposure to bodily fluids and pathogens.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Current certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or Nuclear Medicine Technology Board is required within the first year of employment.
  • CPR certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Effective communication skills in English (both verbal and written) are essential.
  • A valid Oklahoma State Driver's License and an acceptable driving record are necessary for this position.
